S & S Couplers
These clever devices allow you to break apart the bike and pack into a suitcase for easier travelling. Cases designed for this use are available as are convenient cable couplers. The cable couplers allow you to break the cables and re-attach them without having to re-adjust your derailler or brakes.
The couplers have proven to be as strong as the tubes and do not weaken the frame at all. The couplers add about 300 grams (11 oz.) to a Tetra or Luna and stiffen the frame slightly. They add about 1,500 grams (3 pounds, 5 oz.) to a Tandem.
We like them not only for saving time and money when flying, but when you get to your destination, it is far easier to find a taxi that can take a normal suitcase than one to carry a full sized bike case. And it sure makes getting around the airport easier!
